Tachometer install on Tohatsu 2002 M40D2

I'd like to hook up a tach to my '02 Tohatsu 40hp. M40D2. Tiller steer, manual start, manual tilt, ultra basic- no frills. From what I have researched, the original Tach part number is no longer available, but can be subbed with a different model ( 3AD726400M ). I would also need Lead Wire ( 361725390M ).

Am I on the right path here? Also, would I need the Tach Sending Unit ( 3P0-72679-0 ) ???

Either the white 3AD726400M or black 3AC726400M tach will work. Yes, the correct lead wire is 361725390M. You will not need a sender.
