Tachometer Hookup

On a 1998 90HP Force outboard with CDI ignition, where do I exactly hook up a hand-held tachometer? Please advise.

i have a 98 120 and i believe it is the purple wire that is the sender.

I think the wire you are looking for is gray. It will hook to the send terminal on the tach and the 12v or power on the tach of course goes to a 12v positive and then connect the ground and you should be set. That is on my 95 model 120 with a factory US Marine tach anyway.

Seldont is right, the sending wire is gray. The purple wire is 12v power for the tach.
