TACH wires for 70 merc

does anybody know what which of wires in the harness that run to the motor are the ones for the Tach and were do they hook up to on the engine side. my merc has the thunder bolt egnition. no dist... that for any help Barry

look on the front of your merc remote control there is a tach. connector on the front of it

Barry,<br />On a standard Merc harness, the tach wire is in the connector on the motor end. But at the console the wire NORMALLY is gray for tach signal, black and yellow for 12v ignition and of course black for ground. This is all under the NORMAL factor Barry. As you proably already know many things on boats are not normal......LOL<br /><br /><br />Hitman
