Tach stuck. Replace?

I just bought a 2004 Rinker with a Mercruiser Mag 350. The Faria tach is stuck. The needle points to 1,900 RPM even with the key off, engine off, engine idling, WOT, doesn't matter. This seems to eliminate a wiring problem since it sits there even with the battery switch off. Do I just replace the tach or can it be opened up and repaired? Banging on the face of the gauge doesn't make any difference. Towing the boat home on the trailer for 150 miles didn't jar it loose either.
Thanks for your help.

You can send it in to a speedometer repair shop or replace it

It looks like they no longer make this exact model of tach. I can buy a similar one for about $65. According the Faria's website they will repair this one for $125. That seems pretty steep; twice the price of a new one. I'll have to see if there is a speedometer shop near me. I don't know of any right off.
