Hi all. I have a 90 bayliner capri with a 90hp force outboard. I was wondering how hard it would be to install an indash tach onto this boat, and also where the best place to get one. Thanks

Re: tach question

It's pretty straightforward. Do a search on Tach or Tachometer. Then take the hood of off your motor and check the wiring label on the side of your motor for the color for your tach connection. It's likely to already have the wire needed. It's just under some black tape at the end of the main boat wiring harness (thick bunch of boat wiring under the dash). You need to have the correct kind of Tach, however. For mine it had to be a 20-pole tach. Once you have it, you have to drill the correct size hole on both your dash panel and the dash itself if it doesn't already have enough space cut out. Usually you install it next to Speedometer since they are usually the same size gauge.

Re: tach question

1990 90 has a 20 pole stator.
So the tach will need to be a 20.
Some of the others on here have managed to find them.
On the search section on top of the page.
Put in: 20 pole tach and see what pops up.
