Hi,
I have a 1992 Johnson 60HP (BJ60TLENE) that I want to connect to a tachometer. There is a 3-wire plugin cable going from the throttle control that should be connected to the tach. I'm not sure what tachometer I should buy, will a marine tach whith this description work? "For outboards with 4 -, 6 -, 8 -, 10 -, 12 - or 20 - pulses generator / stator". How do I know how many "pulses" my engine is delivering? Cannot find any information about it in my Clymer Outboard shop manual.

Thanks, // bj?rn

Re: Tach question

That 3 wire pigtail should be for the addition of a tach. Grey wire is the tach signal, pink is hot and black is ground. All you need is a marine type tach (not automotive). All marine tachs come with an adjustment on the back and instructions as to how to set it up for your specific engine. You will set the indicator on the back of this type tach to 6- for your engine. (12 pulses)
