Tach question

Hi people, My tach doesnt work anymore, went out the other day and noticed it is pegged past 6000 rpms, even with motor and key off.
checked all fuses ok, any help or troubleshooting tips before i buy another tach would be greatly appreciated. Thank David

David, Normally the tach will zero when power is applied, and the motor is not running. I recommend you check for +12 across the power and ground connections, and then check continuity to the stator on the sender connection.

Like Chris said, at least on Mercs, zeroing (or within 50 rpm....the book says) at power application is how to check to see if it is operating properly....barring mechanical jamming.
