tach on 25hp el mercury outboard 2001

I have a new tracker boat with a 25hp electric start motor and they keep telling me that mercury has not sent a part out that will hook up to the motor so the tach will work. whats up with this. I bought my boat in may this year and I think mercury would have solved this problem by now. I need some in put on this,or is this true. Thank You :)

THERE IS A NEW SERVICE BULLENTIN ON THIS PROBLEM IT CAME OUT THIS SUMMER CANNOT REMEMBER THE SB# AT THIS TIME WILL CHECK FOR IT WILL BE AT MERC SHCOOL THIS WEEK WILL GET BACK WITH YOU ;)

This problem is a result of the new voltage regulator used on the 2002 model motors. There is a little wiring harness that makes the tach connection work. Parts are available for the service bulletin, I got some in approx. 2 weeks ago.
