I have a 1972 50 hp johnson 2 cylinder, just rplaced the stator and rectifier.

my tach doesn't work, i have the signal wire connected to the tach and ignition purple to bat side with gnd to battery gnd.

reading 12vdc on tach signal, and 12vdc at igniton battery on tach. gnd ohmed out good.

It works when i tun the ignition swith halfway between on and off, but otherwise does not read go past zero.

any ideas?

how do i read the tach signal from remote?

any help is appreciated. my tach is a faria 8000 rpm. i've tried numerous setting on the tach 1-6, 4 seems about right.

thanks

Put a meter on the power connections on the tach, turn the key and watch, I think you're losing power when the key is in the run position.

Faulty ignition switch to me if thats correct above.
