How easy/difficult to hook up tach to yamaha 50 hp motor? It has the wires to the control box for all the guages, but Yama guages are expensive. How difficult is it to get a generic guage and hook it up? Anyone know what wires I would use off the control box wires? I can wire it back to the outboard if I need to as well. Would my manual have anything on this?

Thanks, guys and gals!

Re: Tach Hookup

I would reccomend "Tiny Tach" for about $35.
connect 1 wire to spark plug wire, and 1 to
motor groung. also records engine hours.
good luck,
M.Y.

You can go to www.surplusunlimited.com and get a good tach for $30. You'll probably need a wiring
harness for your control box that wires into your tach. You can get that at www.bassproshops.com or it may be cheaper to get one from your dealer. Once you have these parts hooking up the tach should be easy ,even if you have to drill a hole in your dash. I took my boat to my dealer and he drilled the hole for free.

Dutch
