Is the br/wht wire coming out of the control box tach harness 12v constant? Its the trim gauge sending unit wire. It's feeding 12v back through all the gauges iluminating the lights.

purple is 12 volts, br/wht is trim, grey is tach, tan is temp gauge and tan/blu is optional warning light
