Johnson 1994 90 hp V4

When I use my remote trim buttons on the throttle
The tach goes to zero and then recovers to indicate actual rpm. I cvhecked the battery ground
and installed a ground for the Tach, but it still loses signal when I use th remote trim controls.
I also checked the terminal strip on the engine and all are making good contact.

Any ideas appreciated.

fredmfl@yahoo.com

Re: Tach Ground

Fred.... If you have a tach that incorporates a wiring harness leading from it w/o a plug in connector..... (From Tach) Red wire to light switch, Black wire to ground, Gray wire to Gray wire leading out of instrument wiring harness, Purple wire (12v) to "A" terminal on back of the ignition switch.

Joe,

Yep, you got it right. All my wires are just as you noted but I still go to zero when I use remote trim switch on throttle.
You gave me an idea to look at the wire harness connector [grey].
