Tablet firmware update?

I have a Lenovo A1000 tablet which is two years old. It just gave a notice that it needed a firmware update. It warned to be sure not to run out of battery (I have it plugged in) and that it would likely take 30 minutes to do it. I clicked to do it and the tablet switched off, then rebooted to a black screen with 4 lines of text at the top. two of the lines are highlighted in blue and the last two are not. They are as follows:

HQ factory mode (in blue)
Full Test (in blue)
PCBA test (just white text)
HQ item test (just white text)

The tablet has been sitting like that for about an hour with nothing obvious happening.

Any ideas what is going on? Should I just let it sit some more? Should I try to reboot it?

Don't know what went wrong with the firmware update that locked up the tablet, but googling the subject provided a remedy, There is a a little reset button inside the SD memory card door that shut down the tablet. There is no way on God's green earth that someone would know this. I shut the tablet down, turned it back on and the message was that the firmware update was successful. Every thing works now,

yep...Google is your friend for issues like this. Have had to resort to weird reboot sequences when my Nexus had trouble starting up.

Now you know why people stick with Apple products. You hardly ever have issues like these.

might be tied into the fact that you had it plugged in. sometimes the reboot cycle hangs on android devices if they are plugged in.

Well actually Scott, I did not have it plugged in initially. It was only after an hour of being locked up that I thought I better plug it in until I found out what to do. If I had not found a solution I would have unplugged it and let the battery run down and then recharge it and see what happened. Didn't have to do that, though.

Did someone say oil thread?:happy::happy::happy:

I have been able to lock up my IPAD AIR more than a couple of times.......I bought my daughter a MAC Book Pro and it's had more than a few problems! (it's ok now)

And the day before yesterday, (instead of upgrading my wife to Microshaft Winblows 10 on her quad-core HP laptop) I bought her a new Macbok Pro!

I am a glutton for punishment!

I have a Nexus 7 1st gen tablet that is now basically worthless now that it is updated to Lollipop. SLOW and I constantly have to reboot it. Instead of going through the major hassle of getting KitKat on there, I am throwing in the towel and buying a new Samsung Tab S2.
