I've got a house rented the first week of August that is south of the State Park area and am really looking forward to week on this beautiful lake. There is going to be about 12 of us there for the week and am definitely carrying my boat.

My question is for the locals or regulars in the area. What is the general attitude of the lake authority? I'm really respectful of others on the water, and think my boat is pretty safe and seaworthy, but it could possibly be picked apart by any authorities that are just looking to write a ticket. My local lake is pretty small and all we really have to worry about is the game warden inspecting life jackets and maybe on a holiday weekend the sherriff patrol will be out looking for reckless driving and drunks.

Hoping to have a great week, but just want to be prepared ahead of time for what I may encounter.

TIA

I usually make it over to table rock 1 or 2 times a year for a week at a time. We have never been hassled. Don't do anything to bring attention to yourself and you will be fine. In August get ready to share the lake with a million other people. Really pretty place.

We went to TR last summer in July. It was a blast!!

The law enforcement seems pretty easy to get a long with. I was sipping a beer at 9 a.m. while getting gas at a marina, I looked up and saw a hydro-cop in a Donzi that was idling by and he just waved and told us to be safe.

I did have one follow me down the river, but he turned around when we got to Arkansas waters. I think he wanted to play as I was running over 50 mph... The river is the only smooth place I found on the lake.

While your at TR, be sure to make your way to Big Cedar Lodge. They have 2 very nice restruants. One is more of a bar, but its worth going to. They have drivers that take you from the marina to the restruants, ask one of them to drive you around and show you the place. Several Presidents vacation at the Lodge and it has lots of history dating back to the 1940's.

And watch out for the Ducks when your on the water! Not the ones with wings either... ;)

South of 86 bridge and north of the Ark. line is where we have a place rented. The owner said it is really quiet down there, pretty much all of the time.

I'll definitely check out the Big Cedar Lodge. Sounds like a great place.

Good to hear the cops are keeping it real too. Where we boat locally, you'll only see cops on the water on holidays. Don't mind seeing them, just not interested in getting harrassed for technicallities.

I appreciate the info.

I know where that is. Your not to far from Big Cedar. It is one of the more quiet places on the water, but it still can get a little rough on the weekends. Be sure to get a lake map before you launch your boat. Some of the fingers look like the main channel and a map helps. The map has the party cove, marina's, and ramps on it.

I've downloaded one of the maps and I'll be sure to check it out. Also plan on taking my GPS just to ensure I can find my way back to the dock. Looks like it's a HUGE lake.

Hopefully our location will be the best of both worlds. Pretty quiet, yet close to Branson and restaurants. Some of the ladies aren't as interested as I and the kids are at staying on the water all week.

A good friend of mine just got back from his honeymoon last week. They spent it at Big Cedar. Hopefully he got out enough to tell me what he thought of it. (The lake that is) :D

If you go to Big Cedar, eat at the Devil's Pool Restaurant one night. Their smoked prime rib is out of this world. It's a little pricey for a whole family, but we splurge once a year.

I'm on table rock a lot... never had many problems with the H2O 5-0.... Respect them, they'll respect you... Really nice lake.. lots of people in the kimberling city area and indian point area.... I usually hang out over by shell knob or big M for a quieter get together...

Re: Table Rock lake, Branson, MO

Just got back from Table rock and WOW, what a lake! We had a blast. We stayed on the lake overlooking Gages boat houses on Long creek. We rented a house, but if anyone is into camping, the corp of engineers campground on Long Creek is really nice. Swimming area, picnic tables, camping spots and everything is shaded. Really nice people running it as well.

As far as the lake, man that thing is HUGE. The cove we were staying in was pretty easy to get around in and the water didn't get too crowded or rough. It made for a really nice week. We tubed down into the Ark. section and it was really nice and quiet. We made a few excursions up by Big Cedar and the spillway, and found out really quickly, my little boat isn't nearly big enough to run that area very much. Pretty scenery, but just way too busy and rough for my taste.

Anyway, I'll try to get some pics up soon.
