This may have been covered before but.....
I use castrol sytec in my cars, and I keep the used oil. If I filtered it somehow, could I use it as a two cycle oil for my outboard?
(Mercury 115 2001)

Re: sythetic oil

Hi, Painter. NO. Not only are the additives different, your used oil has acquired acids and other nastiness that cannot be filtered out.

Use only TC-W3 rated oil in your 2 stroke outboard fuel.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Yeah you should not use 4stroke engine oil, I used synthetic 2stroke and do not recommend for oil injection systems messed up the rubber inside the fuel pump. I just read yours is a 2001 merc if its a 4sroke I would stick with a name brand dino lube only.
