system flushing

Greetings, all - <br /><br />I sometimes take my Merc 140/Alpha one out into salt water. I always flush the system with fresh water when I return home. During this process, I can see water flowing out of the various outlet ports, but I'm always nervous that it's not being done thoroughly.<br />Can anyone tell me what the proper technique should be?<br />Thanks in advance!<br />Rich

Put the muffs on and let it run.....There are some kits with additives to help clean out salt deposits.....West Marine or this site should have them.....JK

Wet yr hands with the water that comes out of the transom holes and taste it. Watch the time it takes clear. Next time run it longer than that to be sure.
