System Check Wiring Harness Compatibility

I currently have a 1997 Evinrude 50hp VRO (VRO has been removed and premix with conventional fuel pump) that has the System Check tach, hidden controls and dash mounted ignition switch/kill wire. My buddy is giving me a 1994 Evinrude 70hp that has the older style (white) OMC side mount controls with integrated ignition switch. I'm not sure if '94's are system check or not. Will the '94 70hp wiring harness and controls plug right into what's already installed in my 1997 boat, or will I need to purchase / make some sort of adapter? I'd prefer to use the already installed hidden controls and dash mounted ignition, but I'm open to installing the 70hp's side mount control box and repurposing the dash mounted switch area for other uses if needed. I'm not sure if a 1994 wiring harness connector is any different or compatible with a system check tach. The only feature of system check I appreciate is the overheat alarm, as I will also be premixing with the new engine. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You will need an adaptor. I believe the 94 is a red plug and your 97 has automotive style plugs. CDI makes the adaptor.
