System Check Warning light guage, light out

I have one of those multi-function warning light guages on my dash, that has four red lights that alert to water temp, oil level, etc. When I turn on the ignition the one light for water temp never lights. These look like LED's to me. If I got the right size LED from Radio Shack is it something that can be replaced or do I need to replace the guage?

Also, LED's typically don't burn out. Is there a reason the light would not light in the test cycle other than if it's burnt out? All four lights are supposed to light, then one by one from top to bottom they go out. That one light just never lights up.

Thanks.

It's an OMC system check guage if that helps...

The System Check gauges are sealed, so let us know how things turn out if you attempt to replace the LED.

The following is the wiring for the gauge, if that will help you.

--------------------

system check gauge wiring

pin configuration (looking at the back-side of the gauge, holding it upright):

1-2-3-4
8-7-6-5

Purple wire goes to pin 1- 12V
Black wire goes to pin 2- grnd
Gray wire goes to pin 3 - tach

Grounding these pins, will activate the following:

Pin 4, turn on no oil lite
Pin 5, turn on low oil lite
Pin 7, turn on check engine lite
Pin 6, turn on hot lite

Pin 8, is used to activate the warning horn, it supplies a ground to the horn circuit when any other warning circuit (pins 4 thru 7) is grounded

Thanks. Once I winterize I'll be pulling it out and taking a look at it. I'll post here with results.
