Is syn lube good for older engines? Have a 89 Merc 150 that has it's oil injection disabled...can you premix this stuff? I take it that you can't mix dino and syn...Just drain the tanks? Do you need to 'flush' the inside of the motor with something to get rid of all traces of dino oil? Are syn's all positives and no negatives?

You can use synthetic and there is no need to flush out anything. The slight blend you will have is fine.Charlie

Just add and go. I use synth blend in my 69 merc 1250, it runs just fine, with a bit less smoke.

Cool. I may run the blend at first, and if gas prices ever come down, switch over to the synthetic.

Personally,I like the idea of blending because you get the best of both worlds without making a decisive switch over commitment.Charlie
