synthetic oils

what are the does and donts with synthetic oils? 15hp 4 stroke suzuki. do i stick with suzuki oil? i would like to use Mobil 1 but dont want to hirt anything. motor is a 1998 but only has about 20 hours on it. :confused:

It doesn't matter what brand you use as long as that oil meets the engines oil specifications as spelled out in the owner's manual.<br /><br />IMO, one "do" with synthetics is to change them just as often as dino oils. Although some synthetics handle heat better, they hold dirt and metal particles just like dino oils. In other words any oil gets contaminated and must be changed. Thus, synthetics will cost you more.
