I have also pondered this question. Syn. oil is definatley better than conv. oil, now with that said is it better for marine use. Ask that question on a search engine and you will get as may answers as questions. I have elected to stay with conv. oil as that is what the factory reccomends. Also, service at 100 hrs. on a marine engine also includes changing the filter. since our marine motors are exposed to water/moisture I feel that's another reason to stay at 100hrs.
