Symptoms of reeds not sealing properly?

What are the symptoms of one or more reeds not sealing properly - is it obvious? I am in the process of rebuilding my carbs, and I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the time to pull the manifold off to check the reeds - they look OK from the carb side.

If your engine is spitting fuel back out the carb bodies you can suspect your reed valves.

Reed problems on modern motors are extremely rare. Don't even worry about it unless you have good reason to suspect. Mouse nests and dirt daubers are a couple of good reasons.
