If the high speed nozzle gasket in carb becomes damaged and or missing what would be the symptoms one might experience?Would you lose suction of nozzle since you would have the two castings tring to butt up to each other but not sealing?

As boobie suggested, it depends somewhat on the model we are talking about.

Leaky/missing nozzle gasket will permit unmetered fuel through high speed fixed jet/needle valve (depending on year). Suspect that gasket - if it runs rich at higher than idle speed with fixed jet, or - on adjustable needle setup, if motor keeps running at any throttle setting with high speed needle turned all the way in.

Carb kit installed and out running the river. Issue resolved. Sure it was the high speed needle/tube gasket.
