I have an H190 Four Winns with a SX-A outdrive. I had an issue with an oil leak on the pump cover. Tried replacing the o-rings but ended up with something shorted out causing the ground wires to get very hot and melt into the hydraulic lines. Replaced the pump cover with the updated version but the ground wire is still overheating but only when trying to lift the outdrive. Trimming down works fine. Any ideas?

Find the broken wire, it's shorting something on the ground side, getting full amps from somewhere, doesn't have to be part of what you replaced either, could be part of the relay housing and associated wiring to/from it and the pump

Thanks for your reply. Any chance it could be the pump itself?

I suppose, you will need to test the individual parts of the system to isolate the issue
