I have a houseboat in Lake Powell with 2 generators, one to run major appliances and one to run long duration for the Freezer (honda 1000) or if near shore power we plug it in.

I am looking for a circuit, or product that would allow me to automatically start running from the 1000 when operating, and then run normally from the houseboat generator when that is operating. Any thoughts?

Some background: I know this sounds like a really weird hookup (ok it is) but the strategy is the freezer needs 3 or 4 hour runs to keep it cold, and the Housboat generator is really large (7kw) to run just for a 300W freezer. Today, we just unplug and plug it into the correct cord/outlet, but at times people forget and run it without value... automating would help.

It's called an "automatic transfer switch". Check any home improvement store or other outlet that sells generators. Keep in mind you need to research the safety aspect of installing these devices to avoid the possibility of electrocution. Proper grounding/bonding is essential for safety.
