Re: Switching to Disk Brakes - Bleeding Brakes
You bleed them the same way as a car. Start with a full reservoir of fluid and go to the farthest wheel. Have a buddy pump the surge lever (I have used a long bar and pumped the entire coupling head) and hold it while you bleed the lines (using a hose attached to the fitting) into a glass jar that has been partially filled with brake fluid. This keeps the system from sucking air while you tighten the screw back.

Pump the coupling until it tightens up and have the buddy hold down on the bar. Only open the bleed fittings a quarter turn after they break loose. The coupling will most likely feel like it is going all the say to the end stop. Have the buddy hold down the coupling while you retighten the bleeder fitting. . Once you snug it up, he/she can repump until the coupling (reservoir) pressures up and he/she can't pump any more, Keep pumping and bleeding until you have no more bubbles coming into the glass jar. Once that wheel is finished, go to the next farthest one away from the reservoir and repeat. Make sure you keep plenty of fluid in the reservoir while you are pumping. If you suck air into the system, you get to start over...
