Asking for a friend.

He froze his 5.0L and moved most of the bolt ons to a 5.7L short block including the intake and 2 barrel carb. I have a 4 barrel Carter, which was on my 5.7L which we would like to put on his 5.7L. What would we need to accomplish this and would it be worth the effort? There isn't a tag above the starter, so we are not sure of the serial number.

Thanks,

Ken

Thanks Bondo. Is there a specific intake we should be looking at. Kinda just want to be stock, nothing fancy.

what vintage are the motors? with SBC's you have 3 different intake designs depending on which vintage.

He thinks it is a 1995 or 1996. He has the invoice for the motor and install. I'll have to wait for that info. The four barrel came from my boat in the signature.

Ayuh,...... Ya can't go wrong with a cast iron hi-rise GM intake,..... Merc has used 'em for years,.....

'95 would be the fuely heads, with the straight down 4 center bolts,.......

'96 should be Vortec heads,..... No center bolts at all,.....

95 is pre vortec with 12 bolt manifold, center 4 are vertical

96 is vortec, with 8 bolt manifold, all vertical

You have to be specific with the intake you have and the motor you want to put it on.... This isnt an "I think", it needs to be an "I know" type of thing
