Need a power pack for my 1972 50 Evinrude. I see that they are the same packs used from 1972 to 1977. Can a newer pack such as the 581927 which is for the 50 HP's 1978 to 1983 be used instead.? Are the wires the same just the connecters different and can they be spliced and connected to fit my 1972. I have a newer pack so I do not care to purchase a new older one . I can bolt the newer style power pack where the old one was mounted with little modification.
