switching from a mercury 150 hp

i am switching my boat from a merc 150hp to a merc 35hp will any of the controls work? or do i need new ones for the 150hp?

The shift box will work and if both engines are new enough to have ADI ign. so will the ign switch

Laddies, Isn't it more of a question of plug compatability? If the wiring harness' mate, won't it work?

I "mated" the wiring harness from my '77 Distributor ign 1500 to my '93 ADI ignition 135V6 w/o issue. The plugs and wiring colors were different, but the ignition switch was wired properly.

I presume he is changing boats as well? I do not know of too many boats that can handle 150HP, and will still perform with 35HP.

Chris, as near as I know mercury builts adapters that will plug any plug to any other and some switches are wired to work either way but some do not thats why I used the term ADI
