My 1987 45 Mariner does not sparks on the top two spark plugs. I am assuming that it is the switch box. I was wondering wear the best place to buy a new switchbox is. I have shopped around and they all seem to cost around $240. I was also wondering if the loss of the two cylinders would be the cause of it smoking a little. Thesmoking started right after the loss of power. Any help would be great. Thanks

Have you shopped for a used one? They are good to have around and easy to change.

Where can I find a used one and will it be reliable. The new ones that I have looked at are over $200

Re: Switch Box

Have you checked the trigger voltages for each cylinder? Have you swapped coils to eliminate a coil failure? Have you checked the charge voltages?

Re: Switch Box

Just assuming something is broke could cost you a lot more than $200 if you just start changing parts. You should get a manual to troubleshoot your exact problem.
