I had Glenns Welding in Washington state manufacture a custom hinge for my 3x3 tongue. I have a much longer tongue to enable tme to launch my rig using a conventional passenger car without getting the rear wheels wet, but garaging the trailer is impossible without hinging the long tongue. The parts cost about $300 and a local welder put it on it for another $100, but boy was it worth it. The hinge, if done right, will make the tongue stronger than what it was as a single tube, plus, you can have it hinge precisely where you want. Try
