The line "he'll jump in the boat" as it was along side made me wonder what kind of desk jockeys these guys were.
Seriously, can any animal or person JUMP out of the water onto a moving boat?
Climb maybe, but keep 10 or 20 feet away and watch.

I've drifted/passed swimming black bear several times.
They don't like it though if you get between mom and cub.

.....school girls?....what? ....sounds they are pretty excited about seeing something pretty uncommon and possibly very dangerous that close. Remember most of those guys aren't actually driving the boat right? they are along for the ride

I didn't know cougars (the feline kind) swam

I was out night fishing with my kid and we heard one growling up on shore 100 yards away. Oh' don't worry son, they don't swim...
