Just picked up a little Brother HL-2270DW wireless laser printer for $99.00 at Office Depot. Haven't got the wireless set up for it yet but I hooked it direct (USB) to the Mrs Win7 laptop and it just prints it's little heart out.

Except for the lack of color, for the price I can't see why anyone would buy an inkjet printer again.

I'll give a report once I get it up and running on the wireless. I can't leave the printer where it is currently sitting so I have to locate it where a USB cable won't reach.

I gave up on inkjets many years ago. I hate them with a passion for so many reasons. Laser's where it's at :D

Toner carts were $44.00 at Office Depot. I haven't checked other sources yet but even a $44.00, you get one heck of a lot more copies than a costly inkjet cartridge and you don't have the problem of having them dry out if left unused for a period of time.

When my HP Officejet dies I might look into all-in one color laser printers. I have no idea if they are any good or affordable but I would atleast check.

I was looking at that one the other day, they also have a color model of the same printer that you can buy online for $119.00 but of course your supplies costs go up because you are buying 4 toner cartridges when you need new toner, still quite a good buy..let us know how the wireless works out in it..

I never used my inkjets enough to make it worth wild it basically turns out to be about $5/page then the ink is dry. About 3 years ago I started working at Xerox and they have as many color copiers spread around the floor as they do fire extinguishers. The prints her are very nice.

Just picked up a little Brother HL-224DW wireless laser printer for $99.00 at Office Depot.
You sure about that model number. If its really the HL-2270DW, that is an awesome printer and I have it too. Recently, I brought that one up to my vacation home and bought the HL-5370DW which comes with a much bigger starter cartridge(3000 sheets) and the laser cartridge ends up being cheaper in the long run. It is also duplex.

I bought a Samsung laser printer and it died within 6 months. Kept jamming.

on each side of the toner cartridge there are little clear widow type of things. if you look you cant miss them. take a black magic marker and color in those windows. they are for telling the machine when to replace the toner. there is always left over toner in the unit even if the machine says its out. most of the time you can get a extra 100-200 pages of good prints. i tell all my customers that trick. once you color in those windows you can use the toner until you start to get light copies. once you have to replace the drum unit keep the instructions on how to reset the drum unit. you can reset the unit many times before the print actually gets bad. im sorry i cant remember the reset procedure but i work on about a thousand different copiers, printer, faxes, adding machines, scanners, and about everything else in a office.

Good info on the toner carts Kei9th. Can I google the reset info on the drum and get the extended use out the original Drum as well?

Will you get back to us on that HP drum reset procedure some day? My HP1102w may be coming due soon. :)

Re: Sweet little printer!

I had a Konica/Minolta laser, one of their cheap models, when the toner ran out, I was able to get a big bottle of toner powder and a reset chip on ebay for about $20, the bottle of toner powder was enough to fill that thing up several times...that was a few years ago.

--------------------------------------------------------

In looking at the information on that cartridge that was included with your printer, they are saying it does not have the reset gear on it, that you have to purchase the regular replacement cartridge with the gear to refill and use them..but once you have that, you can get a kit to refill it for about $14 or a 10 time refill kit for about $80

Re: Sweet little printer!

I'm sure that you are enjoying your printer, but I think copies look a lot nicer in color.

I got an inkjet printer that works great. I print enough that I don't have to worry about it drying up on me, and I bought refillable cartridges and ink for pennies for all 3 colors and black. It's wireless so I can print anywhere in the house. It's also super fast, but loud. It'll do like 2 dozen pages a minute on black. But its going to rattle the walls doing it.

And its a scanner and copier with LCD screen. It's all the printer I'll ever need.
