So, thx in advance for any/all help. I have a 94 stratos 274fs with a 79 johnson 150. I just picked up a 93 skeeter 150sl with a 05 optimax 135. Gonna do a motor swap cuz the skeeter got chewed up by raccoons. So the plans are to swap over the motors, controls and even the steering. I am curious about any gauges that I might need to swap as well. Thoughts? Again I appreciate the help, plan on tackling this in a couple weeks

we have a native Alpine parrot , the Kea and those em effers will eat ( personal experience ) the rubber seals out of anything like house windows cars , boats . Upholstery , boots , the insulation off my solar water heater , electrical cables , garden hose, my ski rack , windscreen wipers , washing on the line . I have watched one chew a golf ball to pieces . The worst part is they are as protected as all hell  , Mmmmm :D

Nah man ! Im in New Zealand .... we aint that stupid , and anyhow they dont actually ingest the stuff ( mostly ) they just peck the 5hit outa it , destructive .
They are very clever , which doesnt help .
Id say the natives here ate a fair few ( before we got Macca's and KFC ) , probly why they are now protected . If ya got caught shooting one it would cost you thousands and your fire arms licence.

The Optimax, depending on HP, may need an oil reservoir in the boat. They cannot run properly, due to their design, on premixed fuel, so drain your tank, and add the old fuel back in, a bit at a time. as you use the Optimax.

The steering from the '94 should bolt up. The water pressure gauge, speedo and fuel gauge from the '94 should work. The tach from the Johnny might work, depending on how new it is.

Everything else needs to be swapped over.

Sounds like some work but I really want that 135 opti on the stratos. Just alittle worried about the gauges and the wiring, guess I'll find out along the way.
Appreciate the answer instead of the racoon rumblings

I've thought about upgrading my carbed 2002 115 to an injected engine till I read problems on here and other forums with owners writing in with this problem and that problem for equipment that is necessary for injected fuel and control of it and all that which is not a problem with a simple carburetor. So why change? Easier initial starting would be the only reason and a 20 buck electric fuel pump solved that problem.

Appreciate that. I'll keep ya all posted when that sweet little stratos is running 55 across the water. I've also researched the 05 opti and sounds as though merc got the bugs worked out by then. Lookin forward to it

Good news is that the optimax is almost certainly going to be a smart craft compatible machine. Means you have a few wonderful options for gauges and data read out.
I have the very very good SC1000 gauge instruments. Also have a VesselView mobile that displays all data on your phone or tablet.
You can go as basic as you like all the way upwards really.
I was fairly lucky that the previous owner opted for and paid for the full set of SC gauges. They ain’t cheap !
