Im planning on swapping out the transom plate and gimbal housing on my 74 reinell to a newer alpha style because my old one is corroded beyond useable. I already have an alpha one gimbal housing that is in really good shape, but I dont have an inner transom plate. Just wondering if any of the accesories on my old plate will work on the newer one? Just looking at pics they look totally different. Will my steering cable work? looks like I will need the whole shift assembly also. Just wondering what im getting into here. Any input appreciated! Thanks.

You must use an Alpha inner plate with it. Yes, your steering cable will work if its in good shape. You will also need a late pump for the trim, a complete shift bracket assembly, and most likely an Alpha exhaust tube also. 'nutcase

Ayuh,... You'll also need the Alpha flywheel cover for the motor...
I believe you'll find the rear motor mount spacing changed from wide to narrow...

Bigger pain than I had expected. I originally thought the newer housing would work with the existing transom plate, but turned out it has a little different bolt pattern, guess its time to start looking for a good type 1 housing. thanks for all the input!
