swapping 1976 85 h.p. johnson lower unit to a 1978 70 h.p.

i know i have to change the drive shaft because the top spline is different from each other my 70 lower unit is shot so if i change the drive shaft would it work the gears be ok thanks for the replys just found this site great advice

seriously doubt it. 85 is v4, 70 straight 3 cylinder, different lowers, also the was a big change i that era, in lower units.
