Ok hopefully someone has done this before. I was told this is a direct bolt-in. And it was sort-of.
The motor mounts in the same postion but the manifolds are offset 1" wider than the Y pipe. Is there a offset bellows to fix?
The engine runs great (water running thru openings) dont have outdrive on yet just running hose to intake line inside boat.
The boat that I took this engine out of is a 77 SeaRay that had a 3 inch Y pipe that I gave to a friend. I can get it back but I dont want to pull engine again.

Re: swapped 888 for 233

The 233's were 351 Fords, and the 888 was a 302. They also had different gear ratio's in the drive. The 233 uses a 1.32:1 while the 888 uses a 1.50:1
You will probably need to find the proper Y pipe. Year models will mean a lot as to what all you need to line things up.
There aren't any kits, Mercruiser stopped using Ford engines in 78, and many parts are now listed as NLA (No Longer Available)

Re: swapped 888 for 233

original was a 73 888
new is 77 233
It is so close that i can almost get it but not quite.
Can you legally use wet exhaust hose approx 8" long and double clamp both ends? I'd rather not have any poblems with coast guard As I launch from the coast guard station at Tahoe

Legally you can, but if it works or not and doesn't block off the water passages in the riser is the big thing.

I am assuming that you are talking about replacing the exhaust boots & using exhaust hose to cobble it in.....
It will work as long as you have the risers with the two small holes that dump directly into the tube.....
You can use your 1:50 drive, but you will need to experiment on prop size to get the proper WOT.....
You might consider going to center rise manifolds next time they need to be replaced.....;)
