Swap Short Shaft for a long Shaft from a 85 Hp to a 90 Hp Johnson Evinrude

Hi,

I came across a 90 Hp Evinrude that has a short shaft. I needed a long shaft and I have one on mu 1979 85 Johnson. Do you think I can swap the short shaft with mine (including the lower gears housing) ?

My model is 85Tl79R
The one for sale is CE90TLCUR (i found E90TLCUR missing the C, but I am sure it is because it means Canada)

Should be able to pop off your 85hp powerhead and plunk the 90 in place. No need to pull your motor off the boat.

But do you know what shape the 90 is in?

I don't think that motor was produced as a short shaft. The model # of the 90 indicates it is a longshaft. If by some crazy chance it is a short shaft buy it because it is RARE.
