Swap motor on Volvo Outdrive?

I know this question is probably answered somewhere else in the forum, but i couldn't find it...

I have an older Volvo motor and outdrive, its an inline 4 cylinder. Can I use that same outdrive on a different motor? Say a 327 or 350 Chevy?

I dont know squat about I/Os, so any help is greatly appreciated.

The reason I'm asking is that someone gave me this motor and outdrive, but the motor is frozen, and I have a 327 and 350 sitting in my garage. I was wondering if i could use one of those motors on that outdrive. If not, what motors can I use with that outdrive?

Im not sure of the outdrive model, but I will post it as soon as possible.

In a word "NO", unless you really knew what you wer doing with Volvo drives, gear ratio's, model changes, types of drives, transom shields, Y pipes and a lot of other things. And none of it is cheap.

Find yourself a Volvo outdrive for a V8. Easy enough on eBay. But like Don said you can never mate a 4 banger drive to a V8 unless you want the motor to spin about 9 grand @ WOT.
