Gone...

I strongly suggest you read the comments posted to Vesselgreenhead's topic "Is a 60 degree V-4 block better than a inline 4 cylinder?" Conversation and insite doesn't get much better than that...

Walt

Howdy, Gonefishin. The Suzi/Evinrude 40/50 EFI 4 stroke is state of the art, only 238lb, and has a rep of being bulletproof.

Suzi's 60 is a detuned 70 EFI. It weighs in at 335lb, is as smooth and quiet as they come, and seems to go forever on a tank of fuel. It is developed from their 1.3 liter auto engine, so there are no bugs in it. I have a DF70 EFI on my 17' Boston Whaler, and I love it.

I haven't seen any other EFI 4 strokes in this power range, but the carbureted Yamahas, Hondas and Mercs that I have seen are also smooth quiet engines that their owners really like a lot.

Red sky at night. . . .
JB

Re: suzuki vs. mercury

I recently purchased a new (2002) 4-stroke Merc 50hp with EFI and I am totally pleased with it. It was about 1K cheaper than a Suzi or Yammi. Don't shop by price alone. Go with a local dealer with a good rep.
