Hi everyone,
I have a 2003 Suzuki 9.9 4 stroke long shaft, which is build by Tohatsu. I bought it new in 2003, and I decided to service the water pump after 7 year of trouble free running. I got a water pump kit, which includes stainless plate, gasket, and impeller. When I separated the lower unit, I was surprized to find a paper gasket between the driveshaft housing and the gearcase. I can see this gasket in the diagrams, Suzuki part number 55113-93E00. I changed impeller on other small outboards, and had never seen a gasket at that seam. Is it really needed, and if it is, can I just use something like a PerfectSeal to cover the seam?
I have already bought the service manual, but it had not arrived yet... All replies will be greatly appreciated.
Alex
