Re: Suzuki running badly
Rickdthomas,
I trick I recently used to check spark was to use, for lack of a better term, a spark plug tester. You should be able to find this at a decent auto part store, or sears. It's basically an open plastic housing with a spring clip on one end, and a spark plug type fitting on the other end. The clip and fitting are each attached to separate threaded rods that are tapered to a point where they meet inside of the plastic housing. The gap between the rod can be changed to accomodate different types of spark plugs. So, you basically just plug the plug wire onto one end, and clip the clip onto the head of the plug, and fire her up. You can clearly see if there is a spark, rev up the engine and look for missing sparks, all the while firing the cylinder under test. If a spark misses, you can usually hear that and confirm it visually by a missing spark. Increasing the gap between the rods also 'tests' the relative amount of voltage your coils are producing. If you find a poor performing circuit, you can then start swapping the plugs, wires coils, etc until you isolate the problem. This works great, and recently helped me to troubleshoot a down to a bad spark plug, when I was convinced the problem was much worse than that.

Good luck.
Blueeyes
