Is there a sister company to Suzuki. Such as in the old day, Mercury/Mariner, Evinrude/Johnson. I am thinking about purchasing a used Suzuki motor from an indivdual in central Illinois, by the way, Go Illini! I was just going through Bass Pro Shop catalog and noted under the fuel connectors that all other motors were mentioned but nothing for Suzuki. Am I going to have limited access to parts from other venders other than a Suzuki dealer?

TTP

Re: Suzuki motors

In the old days (late 70's - early 80's) there was a brand called Spirit that was manufactured by Suzuki and marketed by the company that makes Artic Cat snowmobiles. That's past history... Certainly aftermarket parts for Suzukis are quite limited and their dealership network is not as widespread a that of say Merc or Johnson/Evinrude. Nonetheless, they have a reputation for making a good motor. Personally, I wouldn't sweat it over the parts issue. For most service parts on most brands of outboard (other than simple things like spark plugs etc.) the OEM dealer is the only option anyway.
