Hoping someone can shed some light on my problem, I have a dt8 c Suzuki outboard that I just got over the winter put a new water pump in it and test ran in a barrel everything ran fine. Took it out on the river made it about a mile upstream and it started to sputter until it eventually died. Pulled the cow off and found the fuel line right on the other side of the connector leaking after repairing that fuel leak it still wouldn't start. Replace the spark plugs and check for spark seems to be good primer ball is still getting hard even went to the extent of spraying a tiny bit of starting fluid into the carb all with no success not even a pop. I ran a compression test and got 65 on one cylinder and 60 on the other I can't find anywhere what the spec is supposed to be. If anyone can help with this situation before I decide to bring it to the shop I greatly appreciate it

where the line was broken or cracked may have released some particles into your fuel system.. What year motor, the older ones do not do well with ethanol fuels?

I'm assuming you done the other basic checks for spark and dry plugs, correct? If you're getting a spark and not even a pop with starting fluid re-check that your plugs are not fouled, recheck that the plugs are actually sparking and the nothing is touching the plug wires. Pull them out (the plugs) and run any fuel that might have flooded the cylinders out and dry as best you can. Also, make sure your carb float is not stuck flooding the motor. Once you dry everything, if it still doesn't start pull the plugs again and see if their wet. If so you've likely got a sticky float carb problem.
