Suzuki DT75

Just bought this 16' boat and motor for $2500. Has been sitting up. The owner removed all oil injection. Starts OK (not great), idles a little rough, and won't do anything past 1/2 - 3/4 throttle. Since I thought I got a good deal, what should I do first?

Gatorman, the first thing you need to do is get a manual for your engine. Next it sounds like you need to clean the carbs. Also check all fuel fittings and make sure they are tight. Keep asking Questions there's a lot of knowing people on this site. Also what year is your motor?

Check the fuel pump diaphram. Squeeze the primer bulb a few times and see if it picks up at 1/2 - 3/4 throttle.

There is two sizes in fuel line connectors. Same outside diameter, one small inner diameter and one larger inner diameter. If you have one with the smaller inner diameter for smaller engines you won't get enough fuel at higer rpm's. Check them all.

Can anyone tell the year of this DT75, the serial number is 07501-913191.<br />Also, the plugs that are in it are NGK B7HS and the sticker says B8HS. What is the difference? Remember Oil injection has been removed. Thanks

Hi,<br />I have a DT65 (year 1991) so maybe I can help some.<br />The year of your DT75:<br />In serial number 07501-913191 it is like this<br />that 9 is the year it was made (1979, 1989 etc) and the following numbers 13191 is your "engine number". At least this is the way it is on my Suzuki DT65 (I live in Europe by the way, in Sweden).<br />Also the color of the engine will tell what year it may be made:<br />Blue engine: 1980-1982<br />Light grey engine: 1983-1988<br />Grey: 1989-1996<br /> <br />The plugs you have in now NGK B7HS compared to the sticker B8HS - I'm not sure about the diffrence but I use B8HS and gap of 0.8 millimeter and my outboard runs fine on that, I suggest you try B8HS. I see the Oil injection has been removed but that does not matter as log as you remember to put correct amount of oil in the gasoline - how much gasolineil? (50:1 is normally what is used). Here in Sweden Octane rating is rather high so I usually run my DT65 on 95 octane, sometimes 98 octane that my outboard runs very well on. I use syntetic 2-stroke oil that is biodegradable (I use the oil injection system/pump) .

Its gray, so it must be a 89 model. Changed the gas yesterday, filled with 93 octane, the best down here and 100-1 (this is what the old owner told me). Same problem, no power past 1/2-3/4. I am going to do the fuel line with filter and new bulb today.<br />Also, pumping the bulb while running open had no results. Am I looking at a carb job?
