I thought I posted this a couple of days ago but it has not appeared. A few months ago I sought advice for my motor and I promised I would let you know the outcome. After no use for 4 years I bought the boat and found it hard to start and idle. Much was done to solve the problem and eventually I began to suspect timing. A check with screwdriver in the plug hole and the fly wheel cover removed to show timing marks showed some anomoly. Stripped motor found crankshaft had moved. Reset crankshaft by Suzuki motor cycle dealer, new rings all gaskets and all seals and she is a purring new motor. Probable cause of problem hydrostatic lock caused by access fuel in cylinder by attempting to start by throwing fuel down carby throat. Lesson learnt! Thanks to all who gave advice. jondi@iprimus.com.au Regards from Perth Western Australia from a VietNam vet.
