My son was given a boat that has been sitting for a while, motor appears to be a 1985 Suzuki DT40. We got it running and it runs surprisingly well. Right now it smokes a fair bit, probably because I didn't know whether to trust the oil injection, so I'm running mixed gas as well. The main problem we're having is that it starts great when warm, just bump the starter and its running- But if it sits 20-30 minutes it won't start again without ether, just cranks and cranks and won't fire at all. It will start back up with ether, but smokes a lot and runs rough at first, almost like its flooded. Both the manual and electric choke are working, but don't seem to make any difference? The fuel bulb and line are new, and the see-through filter doesnt seem to be losing prime. Is there any thing that can go wrong in the fuel block that can cause this? Does it sound like a flooding problem or something else? If fuel is somehow leaking into the carb and flooding it, shouldnt it at least act like its trying to fire, instead of just cranking nonstop? Thanks...
