Buddy bought the boat about a month and a half ago. In test drive, it seemed to be okay after we ran it for about 10 minutes so, he did the deed.
We took the rig out a couple weekends later and were running about 5 miles from the ramp when the throttle seemed to be bogging.
Got to our fishing spot, shut the motor off, fished for a bit, then cranked the motor up. It kept shutting off when we tried putting it in gear so i used the fast-idle lever to get the rpms up, put the lever back where it belonged, then quickly (before rpms dropped to idle) put the motor in drive. We trolled slowly out of the cove we were in (shallow water) and then the motor just cut off. No popping, bogging, or beeping, it just clean cut off.
worked on getting it started for about 30 minutes to no avail. Used trolling motor to get us back to the ramp, which took 3 hours!!!
Worked on the on the motor a couple of times since and only had it start twice. Once when we changed out the fuel for newer non-ethanol and it seemed to be running fine for about a minute. Shut the motor off, hooked up the hose, tried again, and it wouldnt start. The second time, we put new plugs in it and had the same thing happen.
Took it to a local guy and he said that there was water in the top cylinder and that he thinks that the head is warped. Want t hear any suggestions before taking the head off and resurfacing it. Let me know if you need any more details! Thanks in advance.
