Hi, my Friends boat used to be Equipped with an Evinrude 25hp built in 1992 which seized completely and needed to be replaced. His contacts in Italy set him up with a 1988 Suzuki Dt25acrs.
It is however very slow in comparison to the Evinrude. We used to be able to get up to 40Kmh on the Venice Lagoon. The Suzuki is hitting max 16 and today 11kmh.
It is recently installed vy a mechanic who "checked eveything".
We changed around where we sit to change how the boat sits in the water.
We checked that the engine is mounted correctly.
Cooling vents are clean and free.
Oil is full (2 Stroke injection).
What else can we check??
1 thing i find is, when reverse is selected the throttle is very sensitive and kicks the motor up... Is this correct?? Is it possible that gears can be placed incorrectly after restoration??
