I want ot know if it is possible to get 200hp out of the 175. Is it just a carb change or is it more? Thanks

carbs, reeds, engine block, exhaust tuner, throttle linkage, pistons, heads. Any or all of these might need to be changed for the 25 extra ponies. The only way to find out is to compare the parts list of one engine with the list of the other.

Re: Suzuki DT175 to a DT200

I just wanted to do a follow up on the above question. After looking up parts and cross referencing I discovered the DT175 is the same motor as the DT200 except for the carbs. The DT150 also has the same powerhead etc but the DT150 has 4 reeds per carb instead of 8 like the 175 and 200. So I did the carb swap on the DT175 and increased the hp....it runs fantastic now. Thanks for the posting and I just wanted to drop this in just in case someone might want to know for future reference. Thanks

Re: Suzuki DT175 to a DT200

Well being your motor is a 2002 then I am sure it is different. My motor is an 88. What I did find is on the older motors the powerhead and all the other electronics (ignition etc) are the same on the the DT150, 175 and 200. The only real difference was the carbs and the reeds. The 150 has 4 reeds (per carb) and small carbs...the 175 has 8 reeds and med carbs....the 200 has 8 reeds and large carbs. So basically all I did is find DT200 carbs from a member of this forum and bought them for 150 bucks (what a deal for rebuilt carbs). Bolted them on and done deal. As fair as your motor goes though I do not know. You might have fuel injection on that. Best bet to tell you the truth though is to buy a repair manual from brownspoint.com or try to get info from Paul at Browns Point. You can compare the parts on the different models with the manual. Thats how I did it. The manual however is expensive....around 70 bucks. Gives you an awesome breakdown of part numbers and how to take everything apart etc. Browns Point Marina is the place to get your parts from though. Let me know how you make out....curious. Thanks
